The VF Bridge Server system provides enterprises an easy to configure, cost effective solution for bridging multicast IP video betweenmulticast enabled LANs across a network segments that are not multicast enabled. The Bridge Server extends the efficiency ofmulticast video to remote facilities so that companies can share live broadcasts and scheduled content from a central Furnace system.

The VF Bridge Server consists of Bridge Transmitters that take the multicast streams and send them over unicast network segmentsand Bridge Receivers that take those streams and reform them as multicast traffic for the remote facility. Each VF Bridge Serversupports up to 20 multicast streams as inputs with a capacity of up to 400 Mbps (higher stream count can be achieved depending onstream bandwidths). The Bridge Servers as well manage the communications necessary for the distribution, guide data updates,monitoring, and control of the InStream clients and Stingray set top boxes.

The VF Bridge Servers are extremely efficient with the valuable WAN unicastlinks sending only that video that users wish to view. This is achieved due tothe unique client server relationship and constant communications between allInStream players, Stingray set top boxes, and the central Furnace PortalServer. The Furnace system is aware of what video is being requested at anytime. When a user at the remote side requests video, only then is it sent acrossthe network, when they stop or change channels, that video stops.

Administrators have full control over what streams are bridged across theunicast segments. They also decide how many streams can be usedsimultaneously. Multicast addressing can also be translated at each BridgeReceive system to work with local network IP schemas and policies.

By extending the power of a Furnace Portal Server across a geographically distributed organization, the VF Bridge Servers create acentrally hosted video delivery system with the flexibility to get video anywhere you need it.
