PHOENIX AUDIO OCTOPUS
The Octopus is a versatile Audio Conferencing Mixer with a
powerful DSP and unique technology that delivers crystal clear
audio by automatically monitoring and mixing, making it easy to
set up and use. Each Octopus has four microphone inputs (each
input can also be designated as a unique auxiliary or sound
reinforcement channel). The Octopus allows you the freedom to
mount speakers and microphones anywhere in the room (ceiling,
walls, and table tops). In addition, the Octopus provides unlimited
daisy chain capability and allows for multiple connectivity options.
The Octopus MT454 comes standard with USB and RCA
connectors for VoIP and Video Codec connectivity, with the option
of adding a PSTN (analog telephone) interface or a digital
telephone interface. This mixer can be ordered with an optional 40
watt, 4-output amplifier for powering speakers.

How can I use the Octopus to connect more than 4 microphones? The Octopus has the ability to connect an unlimited number of microphones by using multiple Octopus units in a layered fashion. This is considered an expanded setup. For the expanded setup units are configured as either Slaves or a Master. The Master communicates with the conferencing unit (VoIP, Video Codec or Telephone) and receives, into its XLR microphone inputs, the audio output from the Slave units. Each of the Slaves can act as a lower level master and as such receive into its microphone inputs lower level Slaves if more than 8 microphones are needed. You will need an XLR cable to connect each lower level Octopus to the Master Octopus above it.
